Review: bareMinerals Ready Foundation

I bought this foundation with the mindset that I could use it when I’m travelling about.  I don’t do massive amounts but I have been flying home a fair bit and we’ve a few trips planned this year.

In a bid to reduce the space my makeup takes up and reduce the mess – loose powder while travelling can become a pain, I got the Ready foundation from bareMinerals.  I’m a bit of a bareMinerals fan to be honest, so when this was released I was incredibly excited!  I also picked up the new angled precision face brush to use with the foundation.

I tried this foundation for the first time without primer.  The girl in the shop said you didn’t necessarily need it.  It turns out I did need primer.  Without primer this foundation did break up a bit on my skin after a few hours, which is never pretty!

So when I started using this with primer I was a much happier bunny.  You can get really good coverage if you use with the precision face brush.  It’s a different way of applying your powder foundation.  You press the brush onto the powder, repeat until you’ve loaded your brush with product.  Then without tapping off the excess you simply swipe the brush over your face.  Repeat until you’re happy with the coverage and it’s well blended.  I love the brush, because of the angle I can get in around my nose and under my eyes.  I also didn’t need to reach for my concealer brush as this brush covered it all!  Really impressed.  You can use a normal powder brush on your face if you would prefer medium coverage – you can use the swirl, tap, buff method.

The foundation itself has a dewy finish.  A very dewy finish in fact.  I have normal/oily skin so I don’t really want to look any oilier than necessary.  So I use the Ready transculent powder over the top to take off some of the shine, but leave a small amount of dewiness which actually makes my skin look a bit healthier.

This foundation is a really finely milled powder, provides good coverage and lasts well (with a primer).  There is no strong scent of this foundation which is good and because the foundation is made of all good things I never feel it on my skin.  It doesn’t break me out.  It’s just all good really!  It retails for £25 for 14g and there are 20 shades to choose from.  I would recommend getting colour matched – especially if you’ve used some of bareMinerals foundations previously, the shading is quite different.
This is what is looks like on my face.  I have a bit of a spot next to my right eyebrow, just above the bridge of my nose – you can barely see it!  I’m really pleased with the colour match of this foundation.

    1. It is a brilliant foundation, I couldn’t get over how good the coverage was the first time I tried it. It has a lovely natural finish. Thanks for the comment (sorry for the delayed reply, I’m in Ireland and limited access).
