So I’ve been doing weekly favourites this month as I’ve been shopping my stash so I’ve gone through and picked up the main items that I couldn’t stop using each week.
Lets start with lip products.
|Revlon & Rimmel|
You are no doubt unsurprised to see my yummy new lipsticks, from left to right we have, Revlon Soft Silver Pink, Pink in the Afternoon, Rimmel Kate 05, Rose Passion and along the bottom Apocalips Stellar. All of these lipsticks are so creamy, easy to apply and have excellent pigmentation. I’ve worn all of these alone but also layered under various glosses or lip lacquers! I’ve been really enjoying pinks this month as you can tell and I’ve a funny feeling this will continue for a while…
First up we have Soap & Glory’s Love at First Blush, this is such a lovely pinky/peachy blush with a nice amount of shimmer – wouldn’t recommend wearing a highlighter with this, unless you’re going for a full on glitter ball look. It’s a great colour that adds a nice flush and can be gradually build up. Love it. I’ve fallen in love with Benefit’s Benetint, this took me a while to fall in love it, I really disliked it when I first got it as part of my Sugarlicious kit, but forcing myself to use it this month, I’ve figured out how to make it work for me – basically one cheek at a time and using the elf small stipple brush to blend it immediately after application. I like the hint of colour this adds but I love it more underneath other blushes. I’ve also fallen in love with Lush’s cream pigment in charm, this is a lovely ballerina pink and it’s really easy to work with and layer up if you fancy. I blend this out with my fingers and it’s great for a nice pop of colour, again this is lovely to layer under other pink toned blushes.
Now for Eyes!
Some more new products. We have Statuesque single shadow from 17, 17 Wild Metallic Eyes in Wild Nude and a not so new product, NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk. Both of the 17 shadows are excellent, they’ve got great pigmentation and I’m particularly impressed with the cream shadow – it is so creamy and so very easy to work with great pay off, it’s comparable to the Maybelline color tattoos! Expect a proper review on this! The NYX pencil has been excellent to wear over my bareMinerals prime time primer, I like a slightly tacky base for my eyeshadow and this has given me this. It also makes all my eyeshadows really pop and give more of a true colour.
This is a fail, probably for me only. It’s the Stila liquid liner, it’s a nice product but I just can’t get it to work for me. It tugs slightly on my eyelid which makes it really hard to get a nice clean line, it also seems to seep upwards on my skin – again ruining any illusion of a clean line. I have to always go over this with a black eyeshadow to tidy it up. I’d just rather use my black pencil eyeliners or a gel eyeliner. This is going in the bin.
So that’s it for my August Favourites & Fails! If you’d rather watch the video on these product you can check it out below.
