Botanics 97% Organic Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm Review

So I’ve been testing out this little tub of goodness for about 6 weeks now and I have to admit that I actually do enjoy this product.  Not as much as my Emma Hardie cleansing balm, but this is not bad at all for a budget cleansing balm.

This is quite a thick balm and a little goes a long way.  It’s a little heavy of itself as well and leaves a bit of residue on the skin, so I’ve been using a toner after this cleansing balm to remove any left overs.  I have oily combination skin and this has not irritated my skin or broken it out in any way, however, if I don’t use a toner to remove that residue, I do get spotty.  I think this may work better for drier skin than oily skin, but don’t let that stop you from trying it out if you have oily skin like myself!

This contains Shea Butter, Roship and Jojoba Oil, it doesn’t contain any mineral oils but I think the Shea butter is causing the residue.  It leaves my skin lovely and soft and nicely clean.  I use this in the morning only at the minute, I have tested this out for evening cleansing and it does remove most of my makeup, but I would recommend using a makeup remover before then going in with this cleansing balm.

I wasn’t overly fussed on the muslin cloth that this comes with, it’s quite flimsy and a bit rough, I’d recommend using a normal face cloth instead – you can pick up a bail of 3 or 4 for a few pounds from primark – then you’ve the option to swap them out as you go as you’re cleaning them.

So I think this is a decent product if you’re looking for a budget cleansing balm.  Just make sure you use something to remove that residue after, either a toner or a micellar water.

This is available from boots for £5.99 for 70ml.
