Plummy Smokey Eye

In honour of my new hair colour I thought I’d do a nice plummy smokey eye. I do think this is something you could get away with during the day, but it’s all down to what you’re comfortable with.  Let me know if you do!

So quick run down of the base.  I used the Redness Corrector primer from Smashbox and then with a damp sponge I applied the CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous foundation.  To cover any blemishes I used mac Pro Longwear concealer, under my eyes I used the Collection Illuminating Touch concealer topped off with NARS Radiant Creamy concealer to brighten it all up!  I set under my eyes with the elf Undereye Setting Powder and I set my face with mac Forever Marilyn beauty powder.

The eye look is all about the blending.  I know my left eye doesn’t look as well blended – I have some wee annoying lumps that sometimes show up, we’ll ignore them!

For my eyes I’ve used the Tarte Be Mattenificent palette.  I took the taupe shade all over the moving part of the lid, then taking the dark plum colour in the outer V.  The trick to this is to apply the plum shade and then blend and build the plum colour up to the intensity that you want.  I gradually brought the plum through my crease, along my top lash line and brought it over the moving part of my lid.    Once I was happy with the look of it, I took the pale pink shade and applied it up to my eyebrows, this helps to blend out the crease colour.  I did apply the plum shade again in the crease just so I didn’t lose the intensity.  From the Urban Decay Basics palette I took Venue under my eyebrows and in around my tear duct.  I lightly pressed the black liner shade along my top lash line.   I took some of the plum shade on a smudger brush and brought it along my lower lash line, then blended it out slightly with a big angled brush.  I used the Rimmel Exaggerate liner in Perfect Plum along my lower waterline.   For mascara I applied Jordana Best Volume Extreme mascara on my top lashes, then a second coat of Maybelline The Rocket Volum’ on the top and a single coat on the bottom.

My eyebrows are the wrong colour – I’m still figuring that out.  I used a Sigma brow powder and topped them with Benefit Gimme Brow.  I contoured with NYX blush in Taupe, for blush I used the blush from the palette in Elevated.  For lipstick I went with mac Plumful (how could I not!).  Then to finish it all off I swept Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light all over my face and sprayed Urban Decay De Slick makeup setting spray all over.

So that’s it!  Nothing too over the top, if you’ve any questions please shout! If you want to see how I did it you can see the video down below.
