First post of 2015 and we’re talking about 2014’s Beauty Favourites. I’ve tried to be quite strict with myself and I think I’ve done quite well. We’ll start with the makeup.
For foundation I’ve been loving the DiorSkin Nude and No7 Beautifully Matte*. The Dior foundation is a light coverage and is a great colour match for me most of the year. The No7 foundation is fuller coverage and as you can see I’ve used about half of this already. This matches my colour better in the summer, it also does a great job at staying matte. For concealer the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer in chantilly. I used this both under my eyes and mixed with mac pro longwear concealer to cover blemishes. It’s just a great concealer, it doesn’t crease very much and covers any darkness or redness. Would recommend it! On to face powders. I’m still in love with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder*, I rarely go a day without wearing it. It just adds such a nice soft healthy glow, adore. To contour I’ve been using the NYX blush in Taupe, it is perfect for contouring fair skin and is worth the hype.
For lips there have been 3 standout products, you may notice a theme with my lip choices this year. First the Dior Addict Lipstick* in 571 Windrose, I wore this quite a bit throughout 2015. It leaves my lips lovely and soft, depositing a small amount of pink colour. Love the formula, I recently purchased another Addict lipstick. I have another NARS product, the Stain Lip Pencil in Rikugein. This is a “my lips but better” colour, great for everyday wear. Again this leaves my lips soft but I do have to reapply it often. From BarryM is Genie*, this changes colour on your lips and it becomes a soft pink on my lips.
Now for eyes. I have used mac’s painterly Paint Pot as my eyelid primer for the majority of 2014, it does a great job and helps my eyeshadows last all day, it is now starting to dry out but it has lasted well. There have been two palettes I’ve loved, the Urban Decay Basics Palette* as a companion platte and the Sephora Primal Instincts palette. It has a great range of colours, the shadows blend really nicely and there are 3 matte shades included. It’s great for either a single colour shadow look or something a bit smoker. Both of these came with me on my travels in 2014.
Skin care! The only moisturiser that I went back to repeatedly was the Avene Skin recovery cream. It really helps to soothe any irritation and is light enough to wear during the day but still provides enough moisture. I have two masks that have worked wonders for my skin. The Liz Earle Deep Cleansing mask is great to use on a weekly basis. It gives a good cleanse and helps ease any irritation. The second mask is the GlamGlow YouthMud mask. This is one of the best masks I’ve tried for when my skin is in dire need. It helps clear out all the impurities and evens out the texture of my skin. Not something to be used right before a big event. Sadly I have finished my stash of it and will have to purchase a tub in the future.
That is it for this year’s favourites! Thank you for reading, you can check out the video below if you’d like a closer look at anything.
