I am clinging desperately to the last days of summer and as I’d had a request a while ago to do a tutorial using a coral lip, this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I decided to pair with a simple bronzy smoky eye for a touch of drama.
This is a very simple look to recreate. For my base I used the No7 Instant Illusions Airbrush Away Primer* on my face and the Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer (you can read the review here). I then did some colour correcting for the blue/purple around my tear duct using the Makeup Academy Pro-Base Prime & Conceal Palette* (here’s a review on that too!). For foundation I went in with my Holy Grail DiorSkin Nude Foundation* in Ivory (review post). It’s a medium coverage foundation, so I decided to cover my blemishes with a mix of mac pro-longwear concealer and the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer* (last review post link, I compared these two concealers here). I used this combination under my eyes as well to help lift them. Once I’d my base applied, I set everything in place using the Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder*.
For the eyes I decided to dig out my Sephora Primal Instincts Eyeshadow palette. I swept the lightest shade all over my lids to set the primer. Then taking my Urban Decay Basics* eyeshadow palette I used Faint in my crease, adding a wee touch more to the outer end of my crease. Blending it out (unsurprisingly!). From the Primal Instincts palette I took Mahogany (third shade from left in the bottom row), all over my lid. I also lined the outer third of my lower lashline with that same shade. I used the dark matte brown shade to press along my top lash line and over the Mahogany shade on my lower lash line. I did take an angled blending brush and softened it along my top and bottom lash line. I used the Jordana 12hr Made To Last eyeliner pencil in Espresso Last on the outer third of my bottom water line. For mascara I used Rituals Volume mascara.
For my eyebrows I filled them in with the Soap & Glory Archery Brown Tint & Pencil*, I only used the tint. Then I used the Revlon Brow Artist Plumper* on 3/4s of my brows (only so I may have done a comparison on a few brow gels here).
I applied my lip colour next, just so I didn’t add too much blush. I used the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Rendezvous* I contoured using the NYX blush in Taupe, for blush I used Milani baked blush in Luminoso*. I highlighted the tops of my cheeks, my nose, forehead and below my eyebrows using the Elizabeth Arden Rose Illumination highlighter. Finally I swept some of my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder* in Ethereal Light before using the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water to set my face (I know odd, I’m testing it out).
