Barry M Matte Me Up

Barry M Lip Crayons

I’ve had these two beauties for quite a while,  in fact the red crayon – Make a Statement made an appearance in my September Favourites!  So I’ve definitely tested them out thoroughly.  These are the Barry M Matte Me Up* lip crayons cost £4.99, so a bit of a bargain and more often than not, they’re on offer.  As you may have guessed I’m a bit of a fan.  So let’s get the boring stuff out of the way, the packaging.  I really like the packaging and I love the fact the lid has a click closure, making it nice and secure.   It has a twist up, twist down mechanism for the crayon, this seems pretty sturdy too.  So thumbs up on the packaging.

Now for the product information.  These are so velvety and smooth to apply, they’re also incredibly easy to apply.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have to do some mental prep before applying a red lipstick.  I don’t have an issue with these at all!  They glide on and it’s simple to get good coverage and you don’t end up with it covering half of your face….although bit worried if that happens regularly..

Even though they’re described as matte, there is a touch of a creamy, satin finish.  Dress Rehearsal is a wonderful nude and it’s almost a dupe of NARS Satin Lip Pencil* Rikugien.  They are a very similar shade, just a bit of a different finish.  It doesn’t stain my lips much and I do definitely have to touch it up by lunchtime.  In saying that, it’s very close to natural lip colour, so I wouldn’t expect to notice a lip stain.  Make a Statement is a wonderful vibrant red and it definitely does stain.  Again, this one definitely needs topping up, although it stains my lips, it does wear off in the cracks of my lips.  Thankfully both are easy to top up, I’ve had issues with matte lippies in the past being a pain to top up.

As you can see there is great pigmentation and wonderful pay off on the lips.  I would definitely recommend checking these out.  Big fan, I may actually have to check out a few more colours – there are 5 in total to pick up!
