I have been a long time fan of the Urban Decay De-Slick makeup setting spray. It costs £22* for 118ml and £9* for the 30ml travel size that I now own. It does such a wonderful job at holding everything in place and taking away the powdery look of any finished makeup look. I think I’ve been using it for quite a few years, rarely straying to other setting sprays – mostly because there have been no others to really test out.
Then along came the most recent flurry of setting sprays. I’ve been testing a few out, using my Urban Decay as my base line. First up is the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist, which costs £7.99* for 100ml, much more affordable thank the De-Slick setting spray. The Fixing Mist is a cloudy liquid that you have a give a good shake before using, there is a little ball bearing to help mix it. There is a hint of a floral scent from the spray, which I don’t mind to be honest. The claims of the Fixing Mist:
“Our first ever make-up finishing spray sets and extends your make-up, the that ‘just applied’ look. Anti-melt, anti-fade, anti-crack. A micro-fine texture to set and extend your make-up look.”
To cut a long story short, I very much agree with their statement. It is a very fine mist, the actual bottle itself is great at spraying – I’ve had issues in the past with sprays themselves spitting at me and I’d end up with droplets on my face, not a great look. The Fixing Mist is fabulous at holding my makeup in place all day. All in all it’s a wonderful spray! I would very much recommend it, I will likely use this for a long time to come. I love it just as much as my Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray and to be honest I love the L’Oreal Fixing Mist a wee bit more, it’s more affordable, this means I have more available money to buy more makeup!
