I got to go to The Body Shop 40th Birthday celebrations last week. You may have seen it in the most recent vlog, it was such a fun evening. I got to catch up with a few blogger friends and try some of the newer products. I even enjoyed a lovely hand massage. The Brighton shop has been recently refitted, with some new shiny additions. They now have an area dedicated to trying on the makeup and you can get a fab make over. I mean check out the mirror, they’ve even included selfie sticks.
I love how open the shop now feels, it’s lovely to stroll around smelling all the things and trying everything out. I did have lots of fun playing with all the products, can you blame me. Throughout the evening we all got stamped with The Body Shop’s commitment Enrich No Exploit (It’s in our hands) and each of us committed to making a small change. In my case I’ve committed to having a veggie day once a week. We were given more information on their goals up to 2020, how they intend to enrich people, products and planet. These included doubling their Community Trade programme, ensure 100% of their ingredients are traceable and sustainably sourced and develop three new sustainable packaging innovations. Those are only a few of their goals, so it’s all exciting stuff and I hope they hit all their goals.
The Body Shop started in Brighton, so the Brighton shop has two unique features. The stand near the door displaying memorabilia and products, it was wonderful to see a snippet of the history and the graffiti wall by Ben Eine, which was very cool. There was a little competition run throughout the evening, we posted pictures of our stamp, with our commitment and popped it up on Twitter. The winner received a piece of art work by Ben Eine. I was a tad jealous that I didn’t win! Ben Eine is a well known London graffiti artist.
We were given a lovely goody bag with some products to test out, a few of which are new products! I was delighted to see Shade Adjusting Drops, both the lightening and darkening drops. I’ve been meaning to test out the lightening drops, I’ve a funny feeling they’ll come in handy. We were also given a new Lip & Cheek Stain in Bright Peony, which is a beautiful shade. Another product I was excited to try out was the Drops of Youth Essence Lotion, I’ve already been testing this out and thoroughly enjoying it thus far! Another product I’ve started testing out is the British Rose Body Butter, I love it. It’s not too strongly scented, it sinks into the skin really nicely. Love. Lastly is the new Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream. I’m really looking forward to testing it out very soon.
