Alternative lip shades for Winter

Alternative Lip Colours

I thought I’d offer a few alternative winter lip colours for you to try out, I’ve even kept one bold colour in that is definitely a bit more wearable than the others!  I should point out, I turn up to work with these lip colours on, so these things are all wearable, it’s just a matter of how you pair them.  If you’re nervous about wearing bolder shades, I’ve done a post all about how you can build up to these colours.

So the first colour that I think is the more wearable of the lot, it’s Sleek lipstick* in Smother.  This is a wonderfully vibrant plummy, reddy colour.  It’s lovely lipstick that is very comfortable to wear and generally an excellent wee lipstick.  Very easy to wear.   Now we start to approach slightly different shades with Exxxagerate*, again from Sleek.  This is a matte lipstick and it’s definitely a lavender purple.  It even has a hint of glitter in here.  This does drag a wee bit upon application but not so much that it stops me wearing it.

Now for a definite departure from the average daily lip colour with Smashbox lipstick* in Bankrolled.  This is a black lipstick, which is rather fabulous.  However, it definitely needs a lipliner, just to prevent it bleeding.  So I like to add different lipliner colours first, in this case I used the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eyeliner* in Lust.  That gave me a bluey/purple base, I then applied Bankrolled over the top.  It gave me a rather snazzy navy sort of shade – please note can you spot the redness? Hooray for removing matte lipsticks… doh.  Either way, by applying a different lipliner underneath bankrolled will give you lots of shade variations.

The last colour is a NYX Liquid Suede cream lipstick* in Stone Fox – I’d love to know what colour you see with this lipstick.  Some people see it as a very blue grey, I see it as a very slate grey.  Whichever way you see it, I think it’s a glorious grey shade.  This wears really quite well, I’d just note that it can sometimes be “interesting” upon reapplication.  Although I talked all about that in the review post, which you can read here!
