I’ve recently had to pop up to London a lot lately for meetings, they’re a mix of super professional as well as creative sessions. This has got me wearing makeup again! Hooray! Although it also means, that I’m dashing out the door to catch a train, so I’ve found myself with a “Go-To” look. I think it’s “professional” enough but still a bit fun, plus it takes me about 20minutes to get my face out and get out the door. I have the full face tutorial video at the bottom of this post too if you fancy just doing a TLDR.
I’m currently using two face primers. I use the NYX Pore Filler* mainly on my nose and either side, to help and even out those pores, I then use the Maybelline Baby Skin* over the rest of my face. I used Mac Painterly Paint Pot as a primer on my eyelids. Time for concealer! I went with the Bobbi Brown Corrector to deal with the blue/purple colour on my inner eye followed by Creamy Concealer to help brighten under my eyes a wee bit. For foundation I went with the Bobbi Brown Skin foundation.
For eyes I kept it quite simple – again getting it done in a hurry here people. I used the pale pink shade from the Kat Von D Sahde & Light plum palette all over the lid – just to set down my primer. I took the taupe/purple shade on a fluffy blending brush into my crease. It’s quite pigmented, so a light hand is required and you need to blend it out lots. On the moving part of my lid I used my 3ina Pencil Eyeshadow (I think it’s 107). You will need a stiffer brush to blend this out and make sure it’s even across the lid – I left a gap at the very inner part of my eyelid. I just went with my Laura Mercier Baked highlighter* on the inner eyelid to brighten things back up. For mascara I sensibly used the Rimmel Scandaleyes Reloaded waterproof mascara*, with the changeable weather and sweaty train journeys, it has to be done to prevent smudging.
I keep my brows relatively natural, shape wise anyway. I tend to create the shape and fill in with NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe and then add in a wee bit of texture with the L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper*. Eyes done!
Now the rest of my face! I kept it quite simple…surprise! As my skin has been feeling and looking a bit dry, I’m all about the highlight. So I used the Benefit High Beam* along the tops of my cheeks, blending it out with my finger, then anything left on my finger I use it on my cupids bow and tip of my nose. I contoured using my old favourite – NYX blush* in Taupe, seriously need it at the minute! We won’t discuss the stone weight I’ve put on….*sigh*. To add colour with Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Dollface, such a nice pinky shade. Perfect.
I did decide to set my face a wee bit – just under my eyes really. I went with the NYX Photogenic Finishing Powder* on a stipple brush and dusted it on lightly – it also helped me deal with the fact that I’d put my highlighter too close to my nose…got very carried away. Then to just make sure that I’d not gotten rid of too much glow, I went back in the my Laura Mercier highlighter again along the tops of my cheeks and also under my brows….all about that subtle *cough* glow.
I topped it all off with my Mac Cremesheen lipstick* in Hot Gossip, such a nice nudey pink – my favourite type of nude. I’ll generally set all of this with a NYX Setting Spray*, I have the matte one, but I think I’d rather the dewy one in future.
That’s it! It takes me 20minutes max to get this on and get out the door. Simple but effective – it stays put all day. If you want to see me applying all the makeup and chat, you can watch the video below. You can also subscribe to my YouTube channel if you really want to make my day
