Review: Urban Decay Basics Palette

So I picked this up relatively recently and I have to say it has become a firm favourite.  I picked it up for £20 at Debenhams. You get 6×1.3g (0.05 US oz) shadows for your money, 5 matte and 1 shimmery shade.
(L-R) Venus; Foxy; W.O.S; Naked 2; Faint; Crave
As the name suggests these are all neutral shades, ideal for those that prefer to focus on their lips or cheeks.  This palette is great for most daytime looks and you can use the matte black to line your eyes or really smoke it up.   I’ve used W.O.S all over the lid, then Naked 2 in the crease with Foxy used to blend it out for a nice taupe feel – often over Maybelline’s color tattoo in Permanent Taupe (Tough as Taupe).  Or switched to Foxy over my lid, Faint in the Crease, Naked 2 to blend and Venus as a highlight under the brow, using mac Painterly Paintpot as my creamy base.    I don’t wear black liner much at the minute and if I’m wearing neutrals over my lid I’ll often use a colourful eyeliner to add that flash of colour to brighten the whole thing up.
Daylight Swatches (L-R) Venus; Foxy; W.O.S; Naked 2; Faint; Crave
These shadows are very very creamy apart from Crave which is a bit rough by comparison.  Foxy and W.O.S are similar shades with Foxy having a yellow undertone and W.O.S having a pink/grey undertone. They all have great pigmentation and don’t crease throughout the day (having a creamy base helps!).  I think this palette is worth the money.  It is so compact that it’s handy to pop in your bag if you’re heading out after work or if like me you travel regularly.  You have all you’re basics covered so you only need the additional colours you want for the outter V or to line your eyes.  The packaging is very study and the catch on it is a bit stiff so you know it’s not going to just fall open and get ruined.
I don’t have the Naked 1 or 2 palettes so I’m not doubling up on eyeshadow, I’m not sure if it’s worth getting if you have these palettes.  If you are looking for a matte only palette, this is it.  So in my opinion, this is worth getting.
