How I Brighten My Face!

Last weekend I was out a few nights on the trot, which for me, is impressive.  I’m no party animal and generally I’m happy at home with videos, books, get the idea I’m a home body, I partied myself out in my university days!  Anyway, back to the point of this post.  By Sunday I was looking a tad tired, to say the least!  So I needed to employ all my brightening tips and tools to make myself look more human so I could go out to lunch and not scare the general public.

Below is the finished look, not bad eh!?

A Brighten Face!
Well I definitely looked less tired and grey than I actually felt!

So lets talk makeup

Makeup Used
Due to exhaustion (and a bit of laziness), I’ve decided to use the Naked 3 palette for my eyes, it has everything I need in one place!  First though, I think we should talk about face products.  First up Smashbox Original Photo Finish primer all over my face and then Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer on and around my nose, my skin is a tad uneven there.  I also applied my Urban Decay Primer Potion onto my eyelids at this point.  Then I’ve applied a concealer before my foundation.  I’ve used 17 stay time concealer in extra light, this is lighter than my skin tone and I’ve discovered it works better for me under my foundation, well under my eyes anyway.  Next I’ve taken the sample I have from Smashbox’s all over face radiance and mixed that with Revlon’s Colorstay foundation in Ivory, on the back of my hand, then I used a damp beauty sponge to apply – this gives me a medium/full coverage.  Hiding all the redness or greyness from tiredness.  The radiance helps brighten my face.   I did set my face at this point with my elf tone correcting powder, I just forgot to include it in the image.

Now onto the eyes.  Serious brightening required!

I started off applying Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Pink Gold all over the moving part of my lid, just using my finger.  I did pat it into place with a flat brush after.  Then I went in with Trick from UD3 and patted that all over the moving part of my lid.  I blended this out along my crease once in place.  I took Mugshot on an angled blending brush and made a soft V and brought it into my crease.  I blended it as I went.  Taking an angled liner brush I took Darkside and pressed it in along my lash line, making a soft wing.  I blended the wing into Mugshot in the crease.  This helped to bring everything together a bit more.  On a fluffy blending brush I took strange and ran it under my eyebrows and helped to blend the colours up, I also ran it down into my tear duct area to soften everything in.

Using Rimmel’s Scandaleyes pencil in Nude, I used it along my lower waterline. After curling my lashes I applied Rimmel’s Glam Eyes Day 2 Night in Brown/Black – I just felt this would be less harsh than a black mascara.  I did use Sigma brow powder in Scarlett to fill in my eyebrows lightly.

For Blush I lightly used Benefit’s Rockateur.  For lips I’ve used Collections Cream Puff in Fairy Cake, topped with Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balmstain in Honey.   Then I swept over my face with my Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Ethereal Light.

Here’s a closer look at my eyes

I used my Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray, just to make sure everything stayed in place!
