Finally getting my beauty favourites and fail post up! I’m only a handful of things this month but I have thoroughly enjoyed my little selection!
Let’s start with skin care. I’ve been using No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush* on an almost daily basis, which is a new thing for me! I’ve noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin, it’s much smoother and I can confirm that this has without doubt contributed towards it. I’ve been using it with Sanctuary Fresh Faced Purifying Wash* and it’s a great combination. The face wash is a foaming cleanser, but it’s not overly stripping and I find this combination leaves my skin nice and soft without being dry. I’ve found myself reaching for these when I’ve been wearing lots of makeup or my skin just feels mucky from the heat and spf! The last skin care item is Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream*. I got this sample with my BBBlogger The Dream Box and it took me a while to get around to testing it out. So at the start of July I decided to test it out and I’m so glad I did. It helps keep the skin around my eyes hydrated without giving me those little white bumps (Milia) – this is the first eye cream not to give me those! I only noticed a slight smoothing around my eyes but generally the skin around my eyes is feeling softer. So far so good, expect a full review soon!
Now on to makeup. First my utter favourite lipstick of the month Lipstick Queen Rose Sinner*. This has lived in my handbag and is a beautiful, creamy highly pigmented lipstick. Excellent as an everyday wear lipstick, or great for those dinner evenings out. This lipstick stays put and doesn’t dry my lips out. My eyeshadow palette of the month goes to Sephora Primal Instincts Palette. You probably saw this in my Travel Makeup Bag post. I think I wore this practically every day while we were away on our mini-moon. Such a handy palette with a great shade range that are mostly nicely pigmented, with only a few requiring additional building up. They blend nicely, don’t crease and last all day. You can easily create simple day looks or a more elaborate night look. I’m not sure if it’s still available but if it is, buy it now!
Now for my fail. Another product that I got from the BBBlogger The Dream Box, it’s Too Faced Better Than Sex* mascara. This mascara leaves tiny little clumps on my lashes, oh so many of them. It takes me such a long time to comb my lashes through to get rid of them all. Add in that it drops down on me quite a bit. Well I’m not seeing what the fuss is all about, it’s so much hassle to apply. I get a similar effect with other mascaras that don’t leave little clumpy bits on my lashes. It does at a bit of volume and leaves my lashes looking feathery – once I’ve spent a while sorting them out. For me it just is not worth my time. I have done some zoomed in action on my lashes in the video if you want a closer look at what I mean. I will continue testing it out and hope it improves with time, I will let you know!
So that’s it for this month’s July Favourites and single Fail! You can check out the video below if you want a closer look at any of these lovely things.
