L’Oreal True Match

L'Oreal True Match Foundation

I’ve had this new shiny L’Oreal True Match foundation for a few months now, you may remember it featuring in my December Favourites.  So I’m a tad late in actually reviewing it for you…yep I’m late on all the reviews – expect that to change 😀 OK back to the foundation.  I picked this up for £9.99, for that I got 30ml (standard).  I much prefer the newer packaging and the pump works well, it just looks sleeker overall.  This works well over all of the primers I own, so that’s a good start!

It has a creamy, liquidy consistency.  Yep, that’s useful.  So it’s not overly thick and creamy, but it’s not a runny mess either.  I warm it up on the back of my hand before application, then dab it all over my face.  I use the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to blend it onto my face, I’ve used a buffing brush in the past, but I prefer the sponge.  It’s just easier to get a nice even application.  I have the shade Rose Ivory, which is a pretty close shade match for me.  This is excellent as it’s always a nightmare getting the right shade, the joys of being a pale girl!  They do have a pretty decent shade range, although darker skinned girls may have issues getting the right shade.

So let’s talk coverage. This is a medium coverage foundation with the ability to build it up to a fuller coverage.  Although I don’t think you should do a full second layer, I tend to use it as a concealer, taking my sponge and dipping it directly in the foundation and applying it to any spots I have. You can see the before an after below.

It wears well throughout the day, lasting about 5 to 6 hours before I notice any breakdown.  It tends to breakdown around my nose and in around my tearduct first, followed by my chin a few hours later.  Majority is still there by the 10hour mark, so that’s brilliant in my opinion!

I only have one issue with this foundation, it clogs my face.  It means I can’t wear it everyday, if I do I will undoubtedly end up with clogged pores.  So I alternate it with my bareminerals foundation.

All in all I like this and I’d recommend it.  It’s a great budget friendly foundation.  You can check out the application etc below.

    1. It can be a bit hard to figure this out. I would be seen as warm toned because of all my freckles covering the majority of my face. I’m actually neutral but leaning cool toned, it took me a while to figure this out. I managed to decide this by putting different swatches of foundation along my jaw and then walking out of the shop to natural daylight and seeing which one blended into my skin. Sometimes more yellow foundations just make me look like I’ve jaundice! Sharon has a fun post on this, worth a look!
