As you may have guessed from I’m off tripping about Ireland and unsurprisingly I’ve been shopping along the way, I very much blame Siobhán for some of this…bad influence with excellent recommendations. You can find her blog here, although you likely know her more from her youtube channel, you should pop over and see the makeover she gave me. Right, now back to the makeup!
Let’s start with the tools. I picked up two packets of the W7 Mini Power Puffs which seem to be a very new release, I’ve already been using them and they are definitely worth investigating. We popped into Pennys and a few local pharmacies to grab a few things, why does Primark (Pennys) stock essence & Catrice in Ireland but not in the UK? I thought I’d test out one of the double ended shadow & liner brushes for my concealer and some of their individual lashes. I also grabbed the notebook from Primark – “More issues than vogue”, it just made me smile. From Catrice I got the Even Skin Tone foundation in 005, the High Glow Mineral Highlighter in Stroke of Glow (Siobhán is wearing this in the video), the 3D Lash Multimizer Effect mascara, the Liquid Liner in Dating Joe Black and an Eye Brow Stylist pencil in Date with Ash-ton. I picked up the essence palette in All about the Roses after seeing it on Siobán, stunning. I did also pick up the Urban Decay Brow Beater* in Belfast before heading to Galway, I got the shade Neutral Brown and it seems to be a touch too warm if I wanted a natural brow. While in Belfast I also repurchased my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder* in Ethereal Light.
A brand I’d never heard of is Flormar, which I believe is Turkish. I got the Perfect Coverage Liquid Concealer in 01, which on first impressions is a brilliant under eye concealer! I also picked up two nude lip liners, a pinky tone and a brown tone, both are lovely and creamy. I had to try out their Terracotta Blush on in Touch of Rose, I’m trying to decide if it’s the same as the Max Factor and Hourglass mineral blushes. Very similar looking anyway! The last few bits I bought were from Isadora, I’m on a nude kick obviously, we have the Twist-Up Matt Lips* in Naked and Eye Color Bar* in Nude – these are incredibly creamy and pigmented, already impressed. The last thing I bought was utterly stunning Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight. This is possible one of the most stunning highlighters. Although in saying that, the Catrice highlighter I also bought is just as stunning on the skin! I might have to do a comparison post.
Siobhán kindly donated the last few bits – the girl has a huge amount of makeup & was getting rid of a few bits. The Bobbi brown creamy concealer in Porcelain, simply because it matched me better. The essence palette in Greys – she already had one so decided I should have one too! A few sample pots of the mac cosmetics pigments in blue brown and antique gold, as well as a sample of the Inglot pigment 33. I think she also decided I need a new Real Techniques beauty sponge as mine is on it’s last legs! It made me chuckle, I tend to load up friends and family with makeup and skin care when they visit too. I guess it’s a beauty blogger habit! Long may the kindness continue.
Siobhán also did some shopping while we were there, so we recorded a haul video which turned into more of a beauty chat. So if you want some more reviews on the products, Siobhán tells all in the video below. Plus a fair amount of the products are on our faces in the video so you can see them in action.
