OK, so this does more than just dry your hair quickly, but for all those women out there with a large amount of fine hair, this is a win. The Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Treatment Primer has become a product I reach for every time I wash my hair. It has definitely reduced the drying time. Did I also mention it’s a heat protector too? Aside from these joyous benefits, there’s more!
As we know, I went ahead and had my hair stripped and bleached only a few weeks ago, you can read all about it here. So as you can imagine, my hair isn’t in the best shape. So I’ve been using as little heat as possible on my hair and keep styling to a minimum. However, I do tend to get bored with my hair tied up in a pony tail, or just straight.
I’ve been testing out plaiting my hair immediately after drying. This means when I take my hair down for the second day – often on the weekend, it has a bit of volume and maybe even a nice wave. Although it can also end up a bit huge because the waves hold so well. I need to figure out a way of styling it and not end up looking like a poodle on a humid day. More practice required! I have blow dried my hair straight the odd time and it does end up beautifully sleek and generally looking rather fabulous.
I’m a fan of the pump on the full size version. You push down on the top to dispense the cream. I use a generous dollop, maybe the size of a 50p? Rub it between my hands and then through the damp lengths of my hair. I often leave my hair about 20mins after washing before drying. There is a light, sweet scent off the product, nothing to overpowering.
My hair does feel healthier when I use this primer, although I have been known to add a bit of hair oil on my ends the odd time. Did I mention the bleaching and stripping? All the help required. If you’re hair is healthier, you could easily just use this. It also claims to have an anti-breakage formula. I’ve not noticed any increase in breakage, which I would expect with the damage done. So it may be down to this. Or I might have been lucky.
I keep the travel size in my gym kit. It means I can get ready quicker and off to work after my workout, which is a bonus. The main selling point for me? Speed of drying! Again, I’m aiming to use less heat on my hair and if this can help protect against heat damage, all while speeding up the process? I’m a fan. It also means I don’t have to use any other styling products, so less build up.
All in all I am a fan and I would recommend checking it out if you get the chance!
