NYX Doll Eye Mascara

NYX Doll Eye Volume Mascara

This is a very recent addition to my makeup family, I picked it up on a whim while I was shopping for my friend.  I am so delighted that I did!  I think it might be a new favourite.  Now before we get stuck in, mascara is quite a personal thing, I’ve been known to hate a mascara that everyone raves about and I’ve no doubt it’s visa versa.  I tend to prefer slightly drier formulas, less chance of it transferring onto my lids and I get a bit better volume.  I also prefer bristle wands as opposed to plastic wands.  OK, bases covered, let’s get started.

As you can see the end of my lashes are barely visible without mascara and I think my eyes look a bit baldy without mascara.  I like the slim wand of this mascara, it is actually surprisingly simple to coat the full length of my lashes.  There is minimal clumping or lumps, so that always a winner.  You can see some tiny bits here and there.  They comb out easily and I can separate my lashes without fuss.

The mascara layers up nicely, although I wouldn’t recommend taking pictures between applications, that just makes it a bit harder.  I think with one coat there is a good amount of volume – which is the aim of this mascara.  My lashes definitely look thicker at the base and through the length of my lashes.  I generally just stick at one coat.  The second coat does add some volume but not huge amounts.  So I rarely layer it up.  It’s also easy to use on my bottom lashes, the slim wand means minimal risk of coating your lower lid in the process.

One of the most important things for me, it barely smudges on my lower lid.  In fact I only notice smudging after about 5 or 6 hours wear!  Which is good going as most mascaras I’ve used recently tend to smudge after only an hour or so.  It’s also easy to remove at the end of the day, so no scrubbing of the eyes.

All in all I would definitely recommend this mascara and for £7 it’s a bit of a bargain.  I may have to try the waterproof version next, given our summers are a mix of massive downpours or incredible sunshine, a waterproof mascara will be handy to have!
