We all know by now I’m a fan of colour, so I was very drawn to this Mermaid vs Unicorn palette* when I spotted it. I bought this at the same time as the Fortune Favours the Brave palette (review here) and sadly I tried that out first, so it put me off trying this palette. Shame on me! This palette has restored my faith in Makeup Revolution.
There is a great selection of colours, ranging from pale greens, through the beautiful blues, vibrant red & pinks through to darker purple and navy. All os the colours are very pigmented and thankfully it translates very well onto the lids. If you’ve been watching my youtube videos recently you would’ve seen quite a few of these on my lids already. I’m particularly in love with the pink and reddy shade.
Wear Time: These wear very well throughout the day, no creasing or breaking down. They stay just as vibrant as initial application at the end of my day.
Application: They apply really nicely with all types of brushes – natural and synthetic. They blend well and are easy to work with. The only shade I wasn’t too impressed with was the dark purple shade, it is practically black on the lid. It’s a purple hint off it, but I’d prefer a bit more.
Cost: £4! Utter bargain. You get 12 shades for your money as well.
Finish: There is a mix of metallic and glittery finishes. There is a beautiful shimmer off the more metallic finished and there is a bit of a sheen off the glittery ones. The glitter is slightly chunky as you can see in the pink / red and navy swatches. It’s not that noticeable to be honest and it doesn’t cause any sort of irritation etc.
The reddy shade is perfect for Autumn / Winter. Well any of the shades are fab, you could use the darker shades on the outer two thirds and use the lighter shades on the inner third. if you need to add a splash of colour to your life, go pick up this palette. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
