Spring has sprung…although I was convinced that Summer had started briefly…then, of course, the rain returned! Definitely still Spring! In a bid to brighten my days, I’ve been created this Fresh Spring Makeup look. Something a bit fun, that’s still very wearable.
I dug out this beautiful The Blushed Nudes palette from Maybelline to have a play – too often I’m distracted by the latest shiny thing, time to start revisiting my collection. This palette is perfect for this time of year.
Let’s start with the base. I used the Make Up For Ever Smoothing Primer and mac painterly paint pot* to get my face ready. Then I mixed some Sleek BareKissed Illuminator* with GOSH XCeptional Wear foundation, going for that glowy look. I used my damp sponge to blend it all in.
I added a touch of Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer under my eyes and set it with my elf High Definition Undereye Powder, I also set down the centre of my face with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Silk Powder.
OK, the face is on, let’s get on with adding some colour! I’ve added numbers to the palette to make explaining everything easier.
I used 2 in my crease, just gradually deepening the colour. I did have to build it up quite a bit, while also blending it out. I also brought this colour under my eyes.
I took 3 on a denser brush to build up the intensity. To be honest, you could just leave it here if you’re in a rush.
I darkened up the very outer V with 4. Just a touch on a pointed blending brush. Again, bringing a touch along the very edge of my lower lashline.
I used 5 as my inner corner highlight and under my brows.
I decided to add that touch of colour using the NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Escape.
One pop of colour on the top is clearly not enough. So I added some NYX Jumbo Pencil in Cucumber along my lower lashline and then smudged it out.
For mascara, I went top and bottom with Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara*, I am such a fan of this mascara. Seriously.
For brows I went with NYX micro brow pencil in Taupe
That’s the eyes all done and I’m now ready to get back to finishing my face!
I contoured using a classic, the NYX High Definition Blush in Taupe – it’s the old version, I’ve not tried the new one. So I decided to keep the pinky feel and went with Benefit Hervana Blusher. I like to work at the back of my cheeks and work it forward, rather than front to back. Of course, highlighter is must! Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in 01 is a classic really. I used it on the tops of my cheeks, cupids bow, under my brows (for extra oomph) and on my forehead. All of the glow!
For lip colour, I went with Milani Colour Statement Matte lipstick in Blissful, such a nice lipstick. It applies nicely and lasts well, it’s rather fabulous. Really need to wear it more! I decided it was a bit too much of a cool pink, so I went over the top with NYX Butter Gloss* in Vanilla Cream Pie.
That’s the full face of Fresh Spring Makeup Look! Light but colourful. I like that pop of colour near my lashline – my lids are gradually becoming more hoodied, so having the colour near my lashes works well – you can actually see the pop of colour!
If you’d like to see how I applied it, you can check out my tutorial video below. Of course, if you want to subscribe to my channel and see when the vlogs go live and all sorts of fun, that would be awesome sauce too!
